Planning in Southern Grampians Shire includes statutory planning (planning applications and objections) and strategic planning (town plans, re-zoning, etc).

Council aims to achieve high quality and sustainable development outcomes in the Shire’s urban and rural areas, taking into account the social and economic welfare of our communities and the preservation of the physical environment.

Our planning team can assist with permits that relate to the use, development and subdivision of land. We also offer a range of other services including free planning advice.

About Town Planning

Our Planning Team offers advice on town planning and planning permit applications across the Shire.

Apply for a Planning Permit

To obtain a Planning Permit, an application must be made to Council's Planning Department.

Heritage Advisory Service

Advice for owners and occupiers of heritage buildings about maintenance, restoration or renovation and other changes.

Information about Council's Planning Committee, including upcoming meeting dates and agendas.
