Syringe container disposal

Council offers ratepayers a sharps container disposal service, free of charge, for used needles and syringes. Syringe container disposal is a service available at the Frances Hewitt Community Centre, Roberts Street, Hamilton. This service is not available to commercial operators. Medical waste disposal services can be found in the Yellow Pages for this purpose. Council provides needle and syringe disposal units in public toilets. Do not place syringes in any rubbish, recycling or green waste bins.

What to do if you find a discarded syringe

If you find a needle or syringe in a public space, would like to arrange to have a needle or syringe removed from your property or notice that a syringe disposal bin is full or damaged. Please contact Council with the exact location on 03 5573 0444. We will arrange for it to be collected and disposed of correctly.
