2017/18 Budget Information Sessions... The Next Step

17 March 2017

Council invites interested community members to attend our upcoming Budget Information Sessions to learn more about the budget process and the projects proposed in 2017/18.

Southern Grampians Shire Council delivers over 70 services including waste collection services, services for families, people with disabilities and older residents. Council also provides economic development support for local businesses, maintains parks, gardens and open spaces, infrastructure across our townships and numerous facilities to provide recreation and leisure opportunities across the Shire.

Each year Council prepares a budget to guide the provision of these services and assets across Southern Grampians Shire.
In continuing the commitment to ensure the community is kept informed and given the opportunity to have their say, Council will be holding three, one hour Budget Information Sessions over the coming weeks, prior to the adoption of the Budget in June. These Information Sessions will be held at the following locations:

Balmoral | Wednesday 29 March at 6.00pm | Balmoral Hall, Glendinning Street, Balmoral
Hamilton | Monday 3 April at 6.00pm | Hamilton Library, Brown Street, Hamilton
Glenthompson | Tuesday 4 April at 6.00pm | Glenthompson Recreation Reserve

Mayor Councillor Mary-Ann Brown encourages all residents to come along to the sessions to find out more about the Council’s plans for 2017/18.

“We had really great attendance at our recent Council plan engagement sessions. Following on from these, we now want to share with the community the suggestions we have been able to implement into the 2017/18 budget and give people the opportunity to tell us what they think” Cr Mary-Ann Brown said.

“Having these information sessions prior to the finalisation of the 2017/18 budget, gives us the opportunity to ensure that this budget is a document that accurately reflects the needs and wants of our community” Cr Brown said.
