HILAC Roof Tender Advertised

28 July 2017

Council has advertised a tender for the replacement of the roof at the Hamilton Indoor Leisure and Aquatic Centre (HILAC). The project will see the entire roof at HILAC replaced over a period of two financial years.

Works to be completed as part of the two-year capital works program on the entire roof structure include removal and replacement of existing roofing on various sections and improvement works to other aspects including replacing sky light sheets, painting, removal of rust, clean gutters and removal of all redundant metal work from roof.

The proposed works programme is expected to cost $421,000 and will be funded over the 2017/18 and 2018/19 budgets.

Works on stage one, which includes the roof over courts two, three and four are scheduled to commence in early December, once the winter Basketball season has finished. It is anticipated they will be complete in early 2018 to ensure minimal disruption to HILAC users.

Stage two will be undertaken at the same time next year and will include the remainder of the roof over court one, the gym, pool and foyer.

A 10-year roof maintenance program will be implemented once all capital works have been completed. The cost of the maintenance is expected to be $81,500.00 (spread over a 10-year period) and will be absorbed into operational maintenance budgets.

Tenders regarding the works to be completed on the project from suitable experienced and qualified organisations close at 2pm Monday 21 August 2017.
