Greater Grants Program ready to open for 2020

6 January 2020

The second round of the 2019/20 Southern Grampians Shire Council’s Greater Grants Program will open next week and local groups are being encouraged to apply for funding for projects that benefit the community.

Grant applications officially open at 9am on 13 January 2020 and close at 4pm 19 February 2020.

Mayor Cr. Chris Sharples said Council are pleased to be able to offer funding to community groups who just need that extra boost to get projects off the ground.

“The first round of Greater Grants funding for 2019/20 was extremely popular. It was particularly pleasing to see such a wide variety of community groups and local clubs coming forward with ideas for local projects and initiatives.

“I encourage all community groups who have a project idea or initiative they need some assistance with, to get in touch with our grants team directly and have a chat about your eligibility”, Cr Sharples said.

Groups awarded funding in the first round of Greater Grants for 2019/20 include:

Dunkeld and District Country Women’s Association
Chameleon Arts Collective Inc
1st Cavendish Scouts Group
Tarrington Progress Association Laternenfest
Hamilton Field Naturalists Club
Woodhouse Nareeb Soldiers Memorial Hall
Coleraine Pastoral & Agricultural Society.

Council’s Greater Grants program offers eligible community groups to access up to $15,000 per financial year for initiatives, events and projects that directly benefit the Southern Grampians Shire. Applications for more than $2,500 must demonstrate cash or in-kind contributions and must provide evidence of cash held, or must be able to demonstrate their financial capacity.

Grants are available in a range of categories including Community Infrastructure, Arts and Cultural Development, Community Strengthening, Tourism and Events, Environmental Sustainability, and Heritage Grants.

Council uses the ‘SmartyGrants’ application system to make the community grant application system easier and more efficient. Eligibility criteria and information on how to apply, including the full guidelines and application form are available on Council’s grants page www.sthgrampians.vic.gov.au/grants or by contacting Customer Service on 5573 0444.
