Join the Conversation About Outdoor Pools

3 May 2017

The Greater Hamilton community will have an opportunity to have their say on Outdoor Pools in the Shire, when Council visits all six pool townships this month.

Mayor Cr Mary-Ann Brown said Council acknowledged the outdoor pool service had not been sufficient in recent years.

“During the past few years, we have experienced some well publicised issues in delivering a consistent service to our Outdoor pool users, particularly over the past two summers.

“We have endured a wide range of interruptions in recent years, including failing infrastructure, shortage of lifeguards and chemical issues just to name a few.

“Council will be visiting each outdoor pool township to discuss the issues we’ve faced, and how we can work together with each community to deliver an improved service for your outdoor pool into the future” Cr Brown said.

Engagement sessions dates and times are:

Glenthompson: Thursday 18 May, 7pm at the Community Hall;
Dunkeld: Monday 22 May, 6pm at the Community Centre
(as part of regular Council/Community engagement session);
Balmoral: Thursday 25 May, 7pm at the Bush Nursing Centre;
Coleraine: Tuesday 30 May, 7pm at the Fire Station;
Penshurst: Thursday 1 June, 7pm at the Volcanoes Discovery Centre;
Hamilton: Monday 5 June, 7pm at the Hamilton Cinema, Brown Street;

Council encourages all members of the public (even people that don’t use the pool) to attend the relevant session, express your views and share your ideas about the town’s outdoor pool.

“We want to hear from you about pool opening times, weather impacts, costs, the condition of your town’s pool and potential improvements. Come along and be part of this important conversation” Cr Brown concluded.
