Coleraine Flood Investigation Consultants Appointed

5 July 2017

Southern Grampians Shire Council announces the appointment of Venant Solutions and Associates who will complete a detailed flood investigation for the Coleraine township. This follows major damage to the township as a result of the September 2016 flood.

Delivery of the flood investigation has been fully funded by the Victorian State Government.

Council will be assisted in managing the delivery of the project by the Glenelg Hopkins CMA which is the Regional Floodplain Management Authority.

Venant Solutions is a Victorian-based company and will deliver the flood investigation in association with Michael Cawood and Associates and the Hamilton-based Utilis Consulting.

The project will be completed in the second half of 2018 and will deliver, for the first time, a robust understanding of flood risk at Coleraine. The information produced by the investigation will provide for improved response to future flood emergencies and will identify options for reducing the impact of future floods in Bryan and Konongwootong Creeks.

Venant Solutions will commence work on the investigation immediately. All Coleraine residents are encouraged to attend a public information session – details of which will be released shortly.

Any questions about the project should be emailed to colerainefloodstudy@sthgrampians.vic.gov.au or Rhassel Mhasho on 55730230
