19 June 2024 Exciting School Holiday Events at Hamilton Library! If you're looking for ways to keep the kids entertained these school holidays, Greater Hamilton Library has you covered! Our Library Team have curated a fantastic program of fun, immersive, engaging, and educational events, ensuring there’s something for every age group to enjoy. Greater Hamilton Senior Library Coordinator Kelly Pitt-Lancaster said the school holidays are a special time for Southern Grampians young people. “The school holidays are an exciting time when the library really gets to shine and show the community exactly what we’re about. “Our staff work extremely hard to provide a program of events that has something for everyone, and I think we’ve hit that target this school break. We can’t wait to see everyone making the most of our programs. “Keep up to date on session details, times and bookings via our Greater Hamilton Library Facebook page,” concluded Ms Pitt-Lancaster. Here’s a peek at what's coming up over the next two weeks. Week One Highlights: Saturday, 29 June: The Science Dome at Hamilton PAC Experience the wonders of science inside a 9-metre-wide, 4.4-metre-high dome! This immersive event will feature fascinating talks, films, and stunning projections, in the style of a planetarium. With nine free showings throughout the day, covering topics from eclipses to dinosaurs to the universe, there's something for every curious mind. Each session can accommodate 50 people. Visit the HPAC website for details and to book your tickets. Tuesday, 2 July: Meet Grug! The beloved Aussie family character, Grug, will be visiting HPAC for two delightful sessions. The library is conducting free craft workshops in the function room of the Performing Arts Centre. To attend the workshops, grab your VIP ticket online from the HPAC website. Wednesday, 3 July: Disney Pixar's Inside Out 2 Screening Join us for a special screening of the highly anticipated Disney Pixar film, Inside Out 2. The event kicks off with an arts and crafts activity led by our library team, followed by the movie screening at Hamilton Cinema. This event is limited to 50 children, so secure your spot soon! Bookings are essential, and tickets are available from the library. Week Two Highlights: Tuesday, 9 July: Museum Victoria Exhibit Join us at 2:30pm for a special visit from Museum Victoria. This free exhibit will feature crowd favourites such as Australian animals, megafauna, dinosaurs, and fossils. It's a fascinating showcase suitable for kids aged 3 and up. With limited tickets for 75 spaces, bookings are essential, so be sure to pick up yours at the library to secure your spot! Wednesday, 10 July: Museum Victoria at Penshurst Hall Missed the exhibit in Hamilton? No worries! Museum Victoria will be setting up their exciting showcase at Penshurst Hall from 10:00am to 11:00am. This is your second chance to explore the wonders of Australian wildlife and ancient history. Free tickets for this awesome event can be collected at the Hamilton Library or from the Mobile Library by arrangement. Call the Library for details on 5573 0470. Friday, 12 July: Kids Trivia Wrap up the week with some friendly competition at our kids Trivia! Starting at 4:00pm and running for approximately one hour, this event is suitable for ages 8 – 12 years and promises to be loads of fun with prizes to be won. Teams will tackle a mix of challenging and playful questions, ensuring a great time for both kids and adults.
