Are you passionate about education and childcare? Looking for a flexible career opportunity that lets you work from home? The Southern Grampians Family Daycare Unit is inviting community-minded residents to explore a rewarding new path by becoming a Family Daycare Educator.
Family daycare offers an exciting way to support local families while building a business from the comfort of your own home. As a Family Daycare Educator, you’ll provide care and education for small groups of children in a nurturing, home environment—creating a natural, flexible alternative to traditional childcare settings.
The Southern Grampians Shire Council Family Daycare Unit will host a special information night to explain the program, the benefits of becoming a Family Daycare Educator, and how easy it can be to get started. The event will take place at the Frances Hewett Community Centre on Thursday, 8 May 2025 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.
This is your chance to learn more about:
- Flexible work hours that fit your lifestyle
- Designing your own day plan with fun and educational activities for children
- Tax advantages and business support
- Ongoing career development opportunities
- A supportive coordination team to help you succeed
- Being part of a close-knit community, making a lasting impact on local families
Family Daycare offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of young minds while also running a business that suits your lifestyle. As a Family Daycare Educator, you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, create personalised educational experiences, and enjoy the satisfaction of building strong relationships with the children and families in your care.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Acting Director Wellbeing, Planning and Regulation, Daryl Adamson encourages community to come along.
“We know that access to affordable childcare is a challenge in our region,” said Mr Adamson.
“By supporting Family Daycare Educators, we’re helping to ease the strain and offer more options to families in our community. This event is an opportunity for anyone interested in exploring this fulfilling career to learn how they can get started—and the process is easier than you might think.
“The evening will feature speakers from industry experts, local family daycare operators and childcare staff, and will provide insight into how the program works and how to open your own family daycare centre in the region.
“Whether you’re thinking about making a career change or looking for a way to give back to the community, this information night is a great first step toward becoming a Family Daycare Educator,” concluded Mr Adamson.
