Southern Grampians Shire Council is calling on residents to help make a difference this Sunday, 2 March, by taking part in Clean Up Australia Day.

This annual, nationwide event invites Australians to come together to clean up rubbish in their local areas, conserve natural spaces, and raise awareness about the impact of waste and pollution in our environment. It’s more than just a clean-up—it’s a chance to show pride in our community and protect the beauty of the Southern Grampians region.

Clean Up Australia Day is your opportunity to contribute to a healthier, cleaner environment by lending a hand in removing rubbish from public spaces like parks, roadsides, and reserves.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Dennis Heslin said, Council are supporting community efforts in Hamilton - Kannenbergs Road, Tarrington Lutheran School - Tarrington Recreation Reserve, Dunkeld – Tip Road from Sturgeon Lane to the transfer station and Mitchell Gully roadside stops.

“These clean-up events provide a fantastic way to connect with others who care about keeping our Shire beautiful while making a tangible impact on the local environment.

“As well as harming the environment, rubbish impacts wildlife, waterways, and the overall health of our community.

“Clean Up Australia Day is an important reminder of the difference we can make when we all work together. By joining in, you’re helping to create a cleaner, greener future for everyone,” concluded Cr Heslin.

To coincide with Australia day, we are asking all residents to contribute to a sustainable future by taking small actions to recycle more, reduce waste and have a positive impact on our environment. Small acts, big impact. Visit Waste & Recycling Southern Grampians Shire Council
