Southern Grampians Shire Council Makes Significant Investment in Local

Southern Grampians Shire Council is proud to continue its commitment to investing in local communities, with the latest round of the Community Partnership Grants Program delivering an impressive $176,064 in funding to support local initiatives.
This brings the total grants awarded for 2024/2025 to $300,000 directly benefiting initiatives across the region.
With 68 applications submitted for Round Two alone, the level of enthusiasm and innovation from local groups was outstanding. The approved funding will contribute to projects collectively worth $331,824, ensuring vital social, economic, and environmental initiatives come to life.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Dennis Heslin said since moving to the SmartyGrants system in 2018, the Community Partnership Grants Program has injected a staggering $1,495,496 into the Southern Grampians community, creating lasting change and empowering local groups to turn ideas into reality.
“This figure is an incredible investment that underscores Council’s unwavering commitment to fostering growth, resilience, and creativity within our community. It’s not just a number—it’s a testament to the Council's belief in the power of community initiatives and the dedication of local groups and individuals who bring passion and innovation to the table.
“Council’s near $1.5 million reinvestment into the community stands as a powerful demonstration to the resounding success of the grants program, highlighting its impact and enduring value for our region.
“Our grants committee works tirelessly to assess applications to maximise community impact.
“The grants program is more than just financial assistance—it’s a catalyst for transformation. Whether it’s supporting local events, enhancing recreational spaces, or preserving heritage sites, these grants help bring ambitious projects to fruition to strengthen the fabric of our region, and help make the Southern Grampians unique.”
Some of the outstanding projects funded in round two 2024/2025 include:
- Hamilton Pastoral & Agricultural Society: Toilet Block Upgrade - $8,318
- Peter Francis Points Arboretum Inc: Reclaim the Points – promotional material and signage replacement - $3,238
- Hamilton and Gymnastics Club: Technology Upgrade - $2,500
- Hamilton Institute of Rural Learning (HIRL): WW1 & WW2 Honour Wall HIRL - $6365
- Mirranatwa Playgroup: Mirranatwa Playgroup Play equipment - $2,461
- Hamilton Eisteddfod: Marketing and Promotion - $12,576
- Coleraine Men's Shed: Essential heating and cooling improvements - $2,500
- Dunkeld Progress Association: Community Fire Recovery Event - $2,500
