The Hamilton Indoor Leisure and Aquatic Centre (HILAC) will complete a series of essential maintenance works and upgrades during the April school holidays.

These improvements are part of Southern Grampians Shire Council's ongoing commitment to ensuring this vital community facility remains a safe, high-quality space for recreation, health, and wellbeing.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Acting Director Wellbeing, Planning and Regulation Daryl Adamson said one of the key upgrades is the installation of two UV disinfection systems for the 25-metre pool and the leisure pool.

“This advanced technology will enhance water quality by providing a secondary disinfection process ensuring HILAC continues to meet stringent water safety standards,” he said.

“The upgrade works will also include the installation of a new emergency alarm system throughout the centre and surface recoating of all courts, ensuring a better experience for sports enthusiasts using the multipurpose areas.

“These upgrades demonstrate our commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all users,” concluded Mr Adamson.

To complete these necessary upgrades, there will be some temporary closures of HILAC facilities:

  • Courts Closure: Closed from 7 April to 15 April for recoating.
  • Pools Closure: Closed from 7 April to 11 April.
  • Program Room Closure: Closed from 7 April to 12 April, with a reduced class timetable held in the gym.

The 24/7 gym and crèche will remain open throughout this period.

Reopening Dates

  •  Pools will reopen on Saturday, 12 April.
  •  Courts will reopen on Tuesday, 15 April.

Council appreciates the community’s patience during these brief closures and looks forward to welcoming everyone back to HILAC, ready to support your health and recreation needs.
