We encourage feedback, questions, ideas and open discussion from the Southern Grampians community.
In order to ensure our page is friendly and welcoming for all visitors, we do moderate where needed. We ask that when contributing your views to our Council Facebook page, you ensure that you do so in a respectful manner.
In the interests of maintaining an open forum, we would prefer not to delete comments. However, we will delete comments when they:
- Contain misleading, obscene, graphic, off-topic or spam;
- Post content that is insulting, threatening, or misleading towards a certain group of people including Council staff;
- Hateful or denigrating towards an individual or group of individuals based on their ethnicity, religion, gender, age, disability or sexual orientation;
- Contain false complaints or statements about individuals, companies or any government or government agency;
- Are unlawful or incite others to break the law;
- Are promotional, commercial or overtly political in nature;
- Contain information that may compromise the safety or security of the public, staff, Councillors or volunteers;
- Do not protect personal privacy and includes email addresses, phone numbers or home addresses;
- Are defamatory or harassing of our employees, Councillors, volunteers or other participants on our social media platforms; or
- Any other inappropriate content or comments as determined by Council Officers.
People who repeatedly breach these guidelines will be blocked. If the breach is considered to be serious, Council officers might choose to block users immediately.
If you would like to report an item posted upon our social media channels, please email media@sthgrampians.vic.gov.au.
Inauthentic behaviour
Users demonstrating inauthentic behaviour or identity will be blocked from our pages.
If your account is concealing your identity (no profile picture, following and a pseudonym) it will be blocked from following our pages. Spam accounts are not tolerated and managing them exhausts resourcing.
This policy is intended to create a space where people can trust the people and community they interact with.
Monitoring hours
Our social media pages are monitored during business hours Monday – Friday (with the exception of public holidays). Any posts submitted outside of these times will be responded to on the next business day or as soon as possible.
Please note, that while we are happy to assist with simple questions or issues, we may request that you contact us by phone or email if the matter cannot be resolved via social media. Please contact Council if you wish to make a complaint, would like to request a service, or provide official feedback on an item published for public comment.
Third-party content
From time-to-time Council may choose to link to, republish, or share third party content, or content that links to third party material. This does not necessarily constitute endorsement by Council.
