Big Summer Reads
Big Summer Read
The Big Summer Read is a summer reading campaign for children and young people aged 0 - 18, running from December 1 - January 31 each year.
It is a collaborative Public Libraries Victoria initiative, developed to raise awareness of the importance of reading over the summer school break.
The "Summer Slide" happens when children stop reading and refers to the loss of literacy experienced as a result.
The Greater Hamilton Library has all the resources children need to maintain their literacy skills over summer and incentivises participation in the Big Summer Read program with great activities and prizes along the way.
