Have your say on Council's Long Term Financial Plan

5 October 2021

Council invites residents to provide feedback on the new Long Term Financial Plan 2021 – 2031 (LTFP), which identifies the financial framework needed to achieve longstanding outcomes in the region.

Spanning the next 10 years, the newly released plan has been put together to directly support the future of the Southern Grampians.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Bruach Colliton said the LTFP has been developed after extensive community engagement in forming the Council Plan, Southern Grampians 2041 - Community Vision Framework, Community Health and Wellbeing Plan, 2021/22 Budget and other key strategies.

“The LTFP shows the financial framework of how we, as a Council, will monetarily support and achieve the ideas and strategies as featured in our current community visions,” said Cr Colliton.

“While we have already completed our budget for the 2021-2022 financial year, the LTFP provides a significant long term or 10 year approach, making this new plan quite an important piece of work. It also supports Council in considering a more entrepreneurial approach to our facilities and assets to maximise revenue into the future.”

The LTFP has been developed to ensure compliance with the Local Government Act 2020 and supporting regulations which requires all Victorian councils to develop and adopt a Financial Plan to span a minimum of 10 years.

“We have invested heavily over the last 12 months in developing tangible plans for the sustainability and future of our region. We encourage everyone to have read through LTFP, and fill in the corresponding survey to let us know your thoughts on what we have put together.

“For those that provided feedback online to any of our recent Plans, you will automatically receive a link to the LTFP and a questionnaire, so we encourage you to complete the survey and share your feedback.

“We will continue to analyse outputs, set new limits to guide financial sustainability, and reprioritise and re-work plans to fit into the new long term approach over the next decade,” concluded Cr Colliton.

The LTFP will remain out until noon Monday 18 October 2021. Community members can view and provide feedback on the Long Term Financial Plan online at www.sthgrampians.vic.gov.au/haveyoursay or via the online form here.

Hard copies of the LTFP are also available at Southern Grampians Shire Council Customer Service Centres.
