The Southern Grampians Shire Council Annual Report has been released with achievements highlighted from the 2021/2022 financial year.
The report, which is required to be lodged with the Minister for Local Government each year, showcases the major milestones reached and also the challenges faced.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Cr David Robertson said the Annual Report provides Council with the important opportunity to take stock of the many achievements accomplished including the implementation of key plans and strategies.
“As a Council we are really proud of the work that we have achieved so far with a number of key strategies like the finalisation of the Council Plan 2021-25, Community Investment Plan, 2041 Community Vision Framework, Community Public Health and Wellbeing Plan and so much more developed in the 2021/22 year,” said Cr Robertson.
“The input from the community and development from Council and staff of these strategies now place us in a positive position as a Council to implement and deliver on the key projects as outlined in the Annual Report that will best support our residents now and into the future.
“The Annual Report is quite a comprehensive document that gives community members insight into what was put into action, so I encourage you all to take some time to read through the document and be proud to be a Southern Grampians local,” said Cr Robertson.
A number of major infrastructure projects commenced or were finalised, including the Hamilton Regional Livestock Exchange (HRLX) underpass project, the Pedrina Park Inclusive Sports Hub, the Greater Hamilton Volcanic Trails Masterplan, the CBD Revitalisation Stage One - Cox Street Redevelopment, progression of designs for the Melville Oval sports precinct, and also the commencement of the Pedrina Park Netball Court redevelopment.
Other significant community centred projects outlined in the report include the allocation of approximately $195,000 in community support via the Greater Grants program, continued community engagement with the successful Council Community Listening Posts across townships, continued support for local businesses via the shop local campaigns and much more.
“We will continue to work hard to deliver core services and projects to ensure our Shire remains a well-connected, dynamic regional centre, supporting a vibrant, healthy and inclusive community,” concluded Cr Robertson.
