Southern Grampians Shire Council invites the community to shape its next Arts and Culture Strategy 2022-26. Council is currently developing the new strategy to guide its actions in arts and culture over the next four years and help make Southern Grampians a vibrant cultural centre. It responds directly to the strategic priorities of the Council Plan and will be based on community values and aspirations.
The development of the new strategy provides the perfect opportunity for the community to help shape the direction of the arts in Southern Grampians as well as acknowledging and prioritising our culture.
The online consultation platform Social Pinpoint will help guide the community in development of the new strategy, which will be based on community values and focused on cultural outcomes.
Using an ‘Ideas Wall’, the online tool brings the ‘sticky-notes-on-a-wall’ concept to life allowing participants to brainstorm with fellow community members on opportunities and activities for arts and culture in Southern Grampians.
The consultation prompts residents to share their thoughts on five key priority areas: Community, Creative Economy, Natural Environment, Creative Spaces, and Cultural Leadership.
Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Cr Bruach Colliton said the findings will be used to help develop commitments over the four years and inform how Council can help foster a thriving and creative shire.
“We acknowledge that creative and cultural development increases our connection to place and improves mental and physical wellbeing,” Cr Colliton said.
“The Arts and Culture Strategy 2022-26 will design and deliver a workable, prioritised and achievable four-year plan that enables Council to address its vision to be recognised as a well-connected, dynamic regional centre, supporting a vibrant, healthy and inclusive community.
“If you’re passionate about the arts and culture, this is your chance to share your ideas on how we can build a bright future for the arts in Southern Grampians,” Cr Colliton concluded.
