Soil Investigation

As part of the CBD revitalisation project, soil investigation will be carried out in the Hamilton CBD on Gray Street, Thompson Street and Brown Street between 21 - 27 March 2025.

Please see below details for dates of locations:

21 March: Service location for drilling purposes only
Day 1 (24 March): Gray Street (~10 boreholes)
Day 2 (25 March): Thompson Street (~10 boreholes)
Day 3 (26 March): Brown Street (remaining boreholes)
Day 4 (27 March): Corriedale Lane (final checks and site wrap-up)

This activity is crucial for assessing soil properties to support the design of stable, cost-effective roads.

Traffic management plans will be in place during this period, but every effort will be made to keep disruptions to a minimum.

Pit Condition Assessments

Council has engaged specialised contractors to perform background checks to assess the condition of stormwater pipes and pits along Gray Street in Hamilton. Beginning Monday 31 March, this important work will help us understand how our underground infrastructure is holding up and give us a comprehensive understanding of what needs replacing and what needs upgrading.

Key dates for this work:

Monday 31 March: Pre-inspection, stormwater cleaning, and post-inspection begins along Gray Street.
Tuesday 1 April: Works continue along the same area.

Residents and businesses may notice some minor activity in the area during these works, but every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.

Traffic management plans will be in place during this period, but every effort will be made to keep disruptions to a minimum.

We thank you for your patience while these important works are completed.
