Australia Day 2017

Members of the public are invited to attend Council's official Australia Day Celebrations which will be held on Thursday January 26 2017, at the Hamilton Botanic Gardens.

The official program will commence at 10.30am with presentations of Australia Day Awards, Address from Australia Day Ambassador Mr John Brumby, flag raising, Citizenship Ceremony and musical items. A free BBQ will be provided by the Hamilton Lions Club at the conclusion of the function.

CELEBRATIONS THROUGHOUT THE SHIRE:

Hamilton:
Time: 10.30am till 12.30pm
Location: Hamilton Botanic Gardens (wet weather alternative Hamilton PAC)
Activity: Flag Raising, awards presentation, musical entertainment by Hamilton Brass and Hamilton Singers, speech by Mayor Cr Mary-Ann Brown, Citizenship ceremony, Australia Day Ambassador address by Mr John Brumby, free community BBQ and musical entertainment.

Coleraine:
Time: 8.00am start
Location: Coleraine Tourist Information and Exhibition Centre
Activity: Breakfast, flag raising, award presentation guest speaker and music.

Balmoral:
Time: 10 am start
Location: Seymour Park (Apex Park), Balmoral
Activity: Flag raising, new residents welcome, free community BBQ brunch, Award Presentations, Guest speaker.

Tarrington:
Time: 8.30am start
Location: Tarrington Recreation Reserve
Activity: Flag raising, free BBQ breakfast.

Cavendish:
Time: 9.30am start
Location: Town Square, Cavendish
Activity: Flag raising by Cavendish Scouts, Community recognition awards, shared morning tea, BBQ lunch at the Bunyip Hotel and music by Peter Milburn, Graeme Hallam, Max Rees. Guest speaker: Mr Lyle Walter.

Byaduk/North Byaduk:
Time: 8.30am start
Location: Byaduk Sports Pavilion
Activity: Free breakfast and flag raising ceremony. Guest speaker: Brigadier Michael Annett

Glenthompson:
Time: 12.00 noon start
Location: Glenthompson Lions Park
Activity: Flag raising, official ceremony with Guest Speaker. Roast lamb lunch and fruit salad dessert.

Penshurst:
Time: 8.30am start
Location: Penshurst Botanic Gardens
Activity: Flag raising, Guest speaker, Local Awards, free Breakfast.

Dunkeld
Time: 8.00am
Location: Dunkeld Memorial Park, Parker Street
Activity: Flag raising, Local award presentations, free breakfast.

Branxholme
Time: 5.30pm – 8pm
Location: Old Railway Station Reserve, Railway Terrace
Activity: Cold meat and salads, BYO chairs.

Greater Hamilton Events Guide | Biannual

Council maintains and distributes an Events Guide, listing major and special events within the Shire. The guide is printed twice a year and is used as a promotional tool to raise awareness and encourage visitation to the events in our Shire.

The Greater Hamilton Events Guide Spring/Summer 2016/17 edition is now available. Click here to download or collect a copy from the Hamilton and Grampians Visitor Information Centre or Dunkeld and Grampians Visitor Information Centre.
