Cr Chris Sharples has been a local of the Southern Grampians Shire for over 50 years. Raised in Hamilton, he attended Kent Road Primary School, Hamilton High and Hamilton Tech School before spending a decade travelling. This saw him living and working in a variety of places including Ballarat, Melbourne, Perth and the tiny remote township of Derby located the Kimberly region of Western Australia. He later lived and worked in the large, fast-paced city of Los Angeles in the USA . On returning to Hamilton in the 1980s, he built several successful retail and tourism businesses. For the last thirty years he has owned and operated local businesses in Hamilton, Warrnambool, Port Fairy and Mt Gambier, as well as a tourism venture in Bali.
In Hamilton, Chris has raised four children who are now all young adults. He enjoys spending time in the community and is passionate about life in the Shire. For leisure, he enjoys having fun in the surf, skin diving and loves travelling.
